Understanding "Stain Grade" Wood OptionsUpdated 24 days ago

When we refer to "stain grade" in our wood options, this means that the wood has been prepared specifically for staining, without the use of wood filler. Wood filler, while useful in other contexts, would be visible when staining, potentially disrupting the natural, consistent look of the wood. Choosing a stain-grade option allows the wood’s unique character and grain to shine through, offering a premium, natural appearance.

For customers opting not to go with a stain-grade finish, we prefer to prime all shutters before they leave our facility. This priming is essential for ensuring a smooth, uniform base if painting is your goal. By handling the priming in-house, we help prevent issues that can arise from unprimed wood and provide a finish-ready product upon delivery.

If you’re unsure about the best finish for your project, please feel free to reach out to us for guidance!
